Headache &
common migraine

The second most common reason why people visit a chiropractor.
Headaches affect just about everyone at some point and they can present themselves in many different ways.
Some people only experience pain in one part of their head or behind their eyes, some people experience a pounding sensation inside their whole head, and some people even experience nausea, while others do not.

The pain itself may be dull or sharp and may last for anywhere from a few minutes to a few days.
Thankfully most headaches respond well to chiropractic treatment. Fortunately, very few headaches have serious underlying causes, but those that do require urgent medical attention.

Headaches types that research shows respond well to chiropractic include cervicogenic, tension and migraine. Treatment can also help with TMJ type headaches. Our chiropractor will diagnose and help alleviate your headache. Research shows that Chiropractic is effective in treating the most common type of headache (up to 75% of all headaches) , the tension headache. Most people describe a tension headache as a feeling of a tight band or dull ache around the head or behind the eyes. A common cause of tension headache is restriction of movement in the upper back and neck, which can be effectively treated with chiropractic adjustments.

The WHO states that 1 in 20 people in the developed world suffer with a daily tension headache. Cervicogenic “coming from the neck” headaches are headaches that can be reproduced by touching certain points in the neck. This headache type also responds well to chiropractic treatment.

Treatment of headache will often include chiropractic manipulation or IQ adjusting (if you are nervous of manual manipulation), as well as specific trigger point therapy, soft tissue work, home exercise and postural advise to help keep you headache free.
